It was a wonderful day camp, and there were middle school students from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Boston and New Hampshire. We, as Youth Island NY, had students from Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens and Long Island. The camp was well organized, and had everything a student could ask for.

Girls 2019

This year’s Thanksgiving Middle school camp was held at Brooklyn Amity School between November 27-29. The program contained reading, Quran learning and elaborate discussions with mentors. Students were able to develop their reading skills alongside their critical thinking. While the program was heavily constructed towards improving students, it also contained games and activities where students could bond. Movie night, game night and bowling were part of these activities. We thank our students and mentors for all their hard work and hope to see them all in our next middle school camp.

Girls Winter Camp 2018

It was really nice being all together at the 2018 Winter Camp. Students all both learned and had enjoyable times. They had a chance to meet and interact with new friends. Girls had different mentors come in each day and talk to them about different subjects. They had small parties at the end of the day. They also read books (Risale-i Nur, etc..) and did discussions about it. They talked about what they understood by each one of their reading parts of the book. They had different activities going on each day. They went to the fitness center, which was included inside the hotel they were in. They  got to meet Enes Kanter, who’s a NBA basketball player. Students picked  topics and did research on them  thorough out of  the camp. They presented these to the jury at the end of the camp, and in return for that got gifts (Amazon cards).

The Middle School Winter Camp took place at a hotel in Ellenville, NY.
The program was seven days, and we had ten middle school students. We arranged a classroom at the hotel and used it for reading, Quran education and catechism lesson. Students took advantage of the opportunities that hotel provided us, such as gym, swimming pool etc. We made a quiz for our students on what they have learnt during the camp, and gave prizes to top three students and motivated them.

Youth Island NY, arranged a camp on the Thanksgiving break.
We booked a vacation house in Long Island for four days. There were 7 students and 3 mentors, so it was a small and friendly environment where students could learn more effectively. The daily schedule included book reading, Quran education, good manner education, activities etc. The main topic of the Thanksgiving Camp was prayer. Students learnt the prayers in details, and was tested afterwards. At the end of the camp, we went to Sky Zone and had a lot of fun.
