New York Statewide Ceremony-Congressional Award

New York, NY — On October 21, 2018, U.S. Representatives Yvette Clarke (NY-09) and Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) hosted The Congressional Award’s 2018 New York Statewide Ceremony at New York Law School in the Tribeca neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York City.

“I was delighted to be able to salute all the wonderful young people who received The Congressional Award at the New York ceremony,” said Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney.

Issuing inspiring words of encouragement to the recipients Congresswoman Yvette Clarke stated, “Remember this award is only the beginning of your journey. Make service your lifestyle!”

Our two students from Youth Island NY Awarded gold and Silver medals.



Congratulations to M. F. Colak for receiving the Congressional Award Gold Medal for his great work with the @YouthIsland project to care for the people in Haiti and Tanzania.

Colak Completed;

400 hours volunteer service

  1. Haiti Trip( Opening Water Well- Orphanage Renovation – Volunteer Teaching)

  2. He did tutoring for Non-profit organization ages between 7 to 10

200 hours Personal Development

  1. Developing Mentoring Skills

  2. Guitar Course

  3. Reading Camp

200 hours Physical Fitness

  1. Soccer Tournament and weekly play with friend and communities.

  2. Jogging daily in morning before the school.
